Heat Exchanger Test Rig

Brief Description

A heat exchanger is the mechanical device used to contact two fluids in a controlled manner. Heat exchangers come in a variety of designs, i.e. coil & shell, plate, shell & tube, etc. The one common characteristic is  the separation of the cold liquid stream from the hot liquid stream by a barrier. These are the three common designs that are used for the teaching purpose.

Training Objectives

To determine the heat transfer relationships of shell & tube, coil & shell and plate heat exchangers by fixing the temperature and flow rate of the hot fluid and regulating the temperature and flow rate of the cold fluid
